Clash of Clans: Building further - 2 months of an Alt.

Haven't checked in for a while, continuing to build and get stronger!

Like most people I go through phases where I am more interested in playing certain games, watching movies or TV shows, reading, etc. However, Clash of Clans has had the ability to stay at the forfront of my entertainment attention for quite some time - I haven't checked in on here in almost a month (sorry about that) but I have continued to keep both my main and alternate Clash of Clans accounts up to date - and our clan is currently enjoying a Clan War winning streak of 12!

First up is the Alternate account. Last we checked in we had just moved up to Level 7, but now we are knee deep. I'm conentrating on getting my Elixer collectors and Gold Mines up to max right now but have tried to not neglect my offense or defense in the process. I have fully maxed the Army Camps and all of the Barracks are 1 level below max (Healer level, I'll do Dragon level on each before moving to TH Level 8) I've also gotten almost all of the Research in the Lab done for this level (Barb, Arch, Giant, Goblin, Balloon, Wizard, Healer and Shock Spell - doing Heal spell now and then just need to finish Rage spell). On the defensive side I've maxed the Wizard towers and am currently maxing the last 2 mortars. I also have one Air Defense max and the other 1 level below, all the Archers and Cannons are one level below max and I've built both Teslas and upgrade 1 to level 2. I built the Dark Elixer storage and have acrued some Dark but not enough to build the Barbarian King just yet - hopefully I will by early December. 

Over on the main base we're getting quite strong for TH Level 8. On the Offense we've maxed Army Camps, 3/4 Barracks 1/2 Dark Barracks (the remaining Barrack and Dark Barracks are maxing now) and we've done Barbarian, Armcher, Giant, Wizard, Shock Spell and Rage Spell to level 5, Dragons and Healers to level 3, PEEKA to level 2 and am currently working on Heal Spell level 5. Goblins and Wall Breakers are on level 4 and Balloons are level 3 (I rarely use them). Defensively I have maxed Mortars (all 4) Wizard Towers, Air Defenses and Cannons. All the Archer Towers are one level below max (9) and I have all three Hidden Teslas upgrading to level 4 & 5. My Barbarian King is at LEVEL 9! I'm anxiously awaiting being able to move him up to Level 10 for his ability to get upgraded. Shortly after I will probably start thinking about moving up to Town Hall Level 9!

Clash of Clans: Halloween 2014 Update

Clash of Clans got an update for Halloween

If you haven't logged into your Clash of Clans account in a while, you should know that they have released their Halloween update (as of the 22nd). It includes (among other things) a Halloween restyle of several of the sprites and effects (pumpkins, spooky spells, etc.) along with some gameplay tweeks and improvements.

The update also introduced a new set of traps for anyone Level 8 and up. The Skeleton Trap is hidden when deployed and produces a number of Skeletons (like the Skeletons the Witch deploys) that can either attack ground troops or use balloons to attack air troops (one or the other). It's cheap to build and can be upgraded to Level 2 (on Town Hall Level 8) and Level 3 (on Town Hall Level 9) - I wonder if they'll eventually add a Level 4 at Town Hall 10 but not right now (although they can build more of them)

Also Level 8+ gets ANOTHER MORTAR!!! I assume they are trying to encourage the new Lava Hound and other air troops by making ground only defenses stronger - get to building

Also Loot Bonuses are bigger now after battles, doesn't help much in Silver/Gold, but Crystal III went from 21,000 Gold/Elixer & 50 Dark Elixer to 35,000 Gold/Elixer and 100 Dark Elixer - raiding is awesome right now (when I can find a good one, the update brought more activity and more raiders snatching up the good raids!)

Sneak peak for my weekly update, I slightly reorganized my main account to accommodate the new Mortar and my Barbarian King is moving up to Level 7! My clan mates have asked me when I plan to move to Townhall Lvel 9, but I don't want to rush it. My Alt. Account doesn't get any of the new stuff yet, but it is getting stronger on Level 7, hopefully I'll have all my newish stuff up to snuff soon so I can start unlocking stuff like Dragons, Barb King, etc. - fun times!

Clash of Clans: Building an Alt. Week 7

Finally moved up to Town Hall Level 7!

This was our base last time, with moving up a Town Hall Level we've had some major changes!

We have built several new additions, including: an additional Barracks, Army Camp, Mortar, Air Defense, Archer Tower, 2 Cannons, 50 Walls, a Dark Elixer Container and a Hidden Tesla! I also upgraded my Laboratory and am working on unlocking some Level 4 troops!

Right now I am concentrating on getting those new items upgraded to the same level as the old ones, then I will work on upgrading everything to the new maxes for our level. Also I'm hoping to start acruing some Dark Elixer soon (just got the container finished, only have like 50 so far) because at 10,000 I can build the Barbarian King, we also have the ability to build the first Dark Barracks at this level, but I don't use Dark Troops that much (rather save my Dark Elixer for my hero). I also have one more Hidden Tesla I can build (and of course both can be upgraded to Level 3! that's going to take a lot of gold). I also need to upgrade my storages for gold and elixer so I can raid without worrying about filling them up.

Level 7 is one of the funnest I've been through so far, being level 8 on my main account I miss being in 7. It's relatively easy to find lucrative raids, there are a bunch of things to upgrade and new things being unlocked (like the Dark Elixer & Barbarian King, Dragons, Rage Spell, etc.)

Back on my main account, I slowly trying to upgrade things - we have won 3 wars in a row so that's been nice but things are getting really expensive. I'm having a hard time finding the time to raid enough to keep all 5 workers busy. I hope to get about 360,000 Gold and 200,000 Elixer during the football games this afternoon so I can start another air defense to level 6 (to max it for my level and because it takes 8 days so I don't have to worry about that builder for a while) and my last barracks to level 9 (Dragon Level) - but then I have another builder who will be done with the Dark Elixer Container by morning and my lab will be free (and another builder) by tomorrow evening! So basically I need 3.5 million Gold and 2.5 million elixer by tomorrow night (which is no really feasible) so I'm going to have a builder down for a while unless I can find extra time to raid. Not the biggest deal but I do like to keep them all working if I can (and the lab).

Clash of Clans: Building an Alt - Week 6

We're getting stronger, moving to Town Hall level 7 very soon!

Still not much physical change since last week, we haven't built anything new in a while - but we finally have everything upgraded to max (except the resource collectors) and are moving up to the Level 7 Town Hall.

We are going to have a bunch to do when the Town Hall finishes upgrading on Monday, so I'm raiding this weekend to have max resources when it does. We are going to have another Army Camp and Barracks to build, 2 more cannons, an Archer Tower, 50 new walls, a new mortar, air defense, several new traps and 2 Hidden Teslas to build. Not to mention we can build a Dark Elixer storage, start raiding for Dark Elixer and build the Dark Barracks and Barbarian King (once we have the Dark Elixer to do so of course)!

Level 7 is where the game really starts to get good, we can upgrade our barracks to make Dragons and help out more in the wars, level 4 troops are decent and the Barbarian King is loads of fun - can't wait to see how far we get by next weekend!

Back on my main account I am slowly working on maxing out my Town Hall Level 8 base. I have just recovered from the lull in raiding last weekend and got my last spell (Rage) to level 4. Now I'm working on Lvl 5 Giants (already have Barbarians and Archer) then I plan to do Wizards and then work on Lvl 5 spells (I also did Lvl 3 Dragon already!).

In 1d 18h I will have all of my Archers and Canons to level 9 (1 below Max) and am starting to move my Wizard towers to level 5 (also 1 below max). My Mortars are maxed and my Air Defenses need 2 levels and my Hidden Teslas need 3 (to max). They added a lot of multi-level upgrades at this town hall level so there is a lot of upgrading to do.

Tomorrow I will start my Barbarian King upgrading to level 6, recently got him to level 5 and his Iron Fist Ability is awesome! I'm hoping I can get him to level 10 within a few weeks (I'll need to raid heavily for dark but I think its doable) so when I move to TH Lvl 9 and work on my Archer Queen I won't have to worry about spending Dark on my Barbarian King when it should go to her.

I'm hopefully going to upgrade my Dark Elixer Drill and last barracks to Dragon Level within a week or two. Getting close to moving up to Town Hall Lvl 9, once I get all my walls to Dark Purple (lvl 7) and have maxed out Wizard Towers, Archers and Canons I will think about it (should be by the end of October I would think).

Clash of Clans: Building an Alt - Week 5

We are getting close to moving to Level 7 and continuing to grow.

The base hasn't changed much but we're getting close to having everything Maxed!

I went away on a mini-vacation to the mountains with my friends this weekend so I didn't do much raiding, but I was able to keep all my workers working and we are getting really close to being able to move up to Town Hall Level 7! I have all the Defenses at max (Mortars, Wizard Towers, Cannons and Archer Towers, even the Air Defense), we've done all of the research in the lab and have all the traps and Army Camps upgraded as well. Right now I'm working on a Barracks (to Healer Level) and the Clan Castle. Once those are done I will start the Town Hall upgrade and while its finishing I'll do the other two barracks and mop up some Resource collector upgrades (they are all on 7 or 8 right now) and hopefully get enough to max out all the walls.

Town Hall Level 7 will be a big update. We get two more Canons, an Archer Tower, another Air Defense, Mortar, Barracks, Army Camp, Giant Bomb and two more bombs. Along with a new Seeking Air Bomb, Dark Barracks, Hidden Tesla and 50 new walls - along with the Dark Elixer Storage (and once we can collect 10,000 Dark Elixer) The BARBARIAN KING!

We are also at 737 Gems, I'm hopeful that within a few weeks we will get the 1000 to let us get a 4th builder (as this is my alt I'm not putting any money in, I bought the 4th and 5th builder in my main account).

We are continuing to chip away at the stone, Level 8 has a lot to do!

My weekend off was a little harder on my main account, I still have all my workers working and my lab researching, but I'm going to have a hard time to pay for the next things to do once they finish. I am expecially low on Elixer and despite raiding all day today I am still low (had to crank some dragons for the war this evening so it will be a while until I can get the elixer back). Thankfully I have almost 5 days before the Lab needs restocking so I will concentrate on Elixer and research level 5 Wizards or level 5 Lightning Spell next I believe (just got level 3 Dragons!).

I have Mortars Maxed and all my Wizard Towers and Archer Towers (once they finish) one level below max. My Hidden Teslas, Air Defenses and Canons need several levels of upgrades but they got a few this level so that's to be expected. I am working on getting all of my barracks to Dragon Level (not really interested in P.E.E.K.A.s but I will get them eventually). I have my Resource Collectors all maxed although I could use one more level on my Dark Elixer Drill, I have my gold and elixer storages maxed and Dark Elixer Storage can hold 40000.

I finally got the level 5 Barbarian King! (Iron Fist Ability is awesome!) and have been raiding with 100 of both Lvl 5 Barbarians and Lvl 5 Archers. My plan is to start upgrading Canons next (as they are relatively cheap at 800,000 each) as I build back my storages that were depleted over the weekend. Once they are all done I will work on their next levels along with the next Archer Tower levels to try to max them all out. I hope to be able to do the next Dark Elixer Drill level (2mil Elixer) and Level 5 Shock Spell (2mil Elixer) this weekend when the Level 4 Rage spell finishes. If I can churn Canons and Archer Towers until then and do some good raiding this week I am hopefull I can do this.

Then its off to continue upgrading the big guns (Wizard Towers and Hidden Teslas) along with Air Defenses, Barracks/Dark Barracks and of course walls (which I hope to get all Dark Purple before moving to town hall Level 9). My hope is to have all of that done and be moving to 9 by the end of October!

Clash of Clans: Building an Alt - 1 Month

We're getting stronger - slowly but surely.

This is a screenshot from the last time we checked in on our base. We had just gotten to the Level 6 Town Hall.

As you can see we haven't built anything new in a while, we have however upgraded both Wizard Towers, both Mortars, all the storages, the Lab and Spell Factory, all the research except Balloons (and currently finishing Wall Breakers) and we've upgraded one of the Army Camps and am finishing the Air Defense.

Over the next week I plan to upgrade the other two Army Camps and then the Barracks (to Healer Level, I don't use those so it hasn't been a priority, I do want them all upgraded before we move up however). The Barracks and Army Camps are 700-750,000 a piece so it will take me at least all week (if not into next week) so while I'm doing that I will upgrade the walls and work more on Resource Collectors (those are still behind where they should have been for the last town hall level, I raid a lot so I'm not usually worked about them).

My hope is to move up to Town Hall Level 7 by the end of Next Weekend, but I don't want to rush it so I may hold off - depends on how well raiding goes.

This is a pic of my main account, I am getting things together in Town Hall Level 8, I will have enough Dark Elixer soon for a level 5 Barbarian King, my last Mortar is maxing out and my Dark Elixer Drill is level 2. All of my defenses are max for level 7 now and I'm circling back and working on Archer Towers (plan to do cannons after that as they are cheap as well) then I'll make a pass through and upgrade Wizard Towers and Hidden Telsas to max and by that time I expect it will be mid-late October and I'll be ready to move to Level 9!

Clash of Clans: Building an Alt. - Three Weeks In

Another week and another Town Hall Level!

25 new walls (upgraded to Gold), a new Wizard Tower and Mortar and a few new traps were built. We finished the last Laboratory Research for level 3 (The Lightning Spell) and are upgrading it so we can start researching the Lab level 4 upgrades. We also got new resource collectors and I did a few levels of upgrades on them. I'm currently going slow and concentrating on spending elixer to upgrade things and gold for walls. My main account just went to Town Hall Level 8 last week and now that I've built everything in it I am concentrating on raiding and upgrades (want the lvl 5 Barbarian King!)

I think I will post an update on this each weekend, I suspect I'll still be at Town Hall Level 6 next weekend, but I should hopefully have the resource storages upgraded (so I can hold 2 million of each) along with the lab upgraded and some research done, the Heal spell unlocked and possibly the Healer as well and be chipping away at wall upgrades (to light purple!) and a few defensive upgrades.

Clash of Clans: Building an Alt. - Two Weeks In

We've been playing this account for about two weeks, doing pretty well so far!

A screenshot from the last post, just after our last war (we've been quiet all week, think the leaders are taking a break, hopefully we'll be back at war tonight).

Our base currently, maxed walls are the most notable change (as I haven't actually built anything new). However, I've also maxed all of the defenses (except the Air Defense which is upgrading now), traps and army camps. We're working on the second to last Laboratory Research (just Goblins left after Wizards) and the last two barracks are max upgrading right now.

Once the two workers currently working on our barracks finish I will likely start the Town Hall upgrading to level 6! It will take 4 days so in that time I'll finish the Air Defense and work on catching the levels up on my resource collectors (they are a little behind, and the only things not maxed) I haven't been making them a priority due to how lucrative raiding is at these lower levels - however I do need to get them upgraded eventually and hopefully can get quite a few upgrades in while the Town Hall is upgrading.

The next town hall level brings with it a new Wizard Tower and Mortar, 25 new walls (and the ability to go to light purple walls) some new traps and two new resource collectors - we'll have plenty to do!

Clash of Clans: Building an Alt. - After our first War

We just lost our first war, but we're moving up to Town Hall Level 5 so hopefully can help more next war!

This is a screenshot from last time, we also had a modified War Base that protected the Town Hall and Clan Castle more than the resources.

As you can see we have been busy: A new Spell Factory, Army Camp, Archer Tower, Cannon, Wizard Tower (almost done) and resource collectors. 25 new walls all upgraded (and most of the walls up to the max level for this TH level - Gold Lvl 5). Upgraded the Laboratory so I could start researching Lvl 3 Barbarians, those should be done in the morning and I'll start Archers then Giants. I'll have everything built and upgraded hopefully by the end of the week and this weekend we'll think about moving to Town Hall 6!

On my main account I will be moving up to Town Hall Level 8 this Friday, I have it so that all 5 of my builders will be free and I'm going to enter the level with a bang!

Clash of Clans: Building an Alt. - A week later.

We are preparing to move to Lvl 5 and for our first Clan War with this account!

This is the screenshot from last time, not much has changed layout-wise but we've done quite a few upgrades.

We upgraded the barracks and unlocked Balloons (which I will likely not use at this low level), upgraded our storages, some defenses and the last army camp. Also we've kept the lab churning and just have Balloon research left. We're scraping the bottom of the barrel as far as TH lvl 4 upgrades go, especially since we upgraded our walls completely so I started the TH lvl 5 upgrade that should be done by tomorrow! After that we'll get several new things, most notably the Wizard Tower!

The Clan leader called the weekend war, this will be my first with this account (I'm also a higher level account in the clan though so I've done many wars before). I setup my Clan War Base to protect the defenses and Town Hall over resources, then spaced the extra stuff to have more space between drop zones and walls. This account is #14 in our clan and is about on par with the other clan's #14 - hopefully I can 3 Star their #15 at least with this account! Looking at their #7 and #8 with my main account (which is 6 days away from Town Hall Lvl 8, and I've almost maxed everything for TH Lvl 7!)

Clash of Clans: Building an Alt. Day 6

Continuing to build our Alternate Account.

Since last time we have successfully upgraded the Town Hall, afterwords we built the new defenses (Archer Tower and Air Defense) along with the new resource collectors and Barracks. I upgraded the Clan Castle (and joined my clan) and Laboratory (which I am keeping churning). Some light raiding has kept the storages stocked and I'm well on my way to maxing out the walls for this town hall level (even the new ones).

Today's screenshot, as you can see raiding is quite lucrative at this stage.

We built 25 new walls, cleared all the obstacles and redesigned the base with the goal of always having two sets of walls between the outside and the center mortar, also offsetting the compartments helps to keep 1 wall breaker from entering multiple compartments easily. Currently I am working on upgrading my Giants, after that its Wall Breakers and the laboratory is completely updated for this level.

I'm working on storage containers now and after they are done I'll swing back through Barracks/Army Camps (I think one of the camps needs 1 more level and the barracks can use the upgrades, I don't use Balloons almost at all though so it hasn't been a priority). Then final wall upgrades and resource collectors and we move to Town Hall level 5, hopefully by the end of the weekend. Also we have 478 trophies - so close to 500 and the 3rd builder!

PS. I just started my upgrade to Lvl 8 Town Hall on my main account - so in 8 days I'll have a bunch more to do there (I'm not 100% upgraded for Lvl 7 but I've maxed all my defense except Cannons/Archers and I should be like 98% upgraded by the time the TH is finished upgrading - will have Lvl 2 Barbarian King in about 2 days! and almost half of my walls are Dark Purple - lvl 7) Can't wait for the Dark Elixer drill! and the ability to research lvl 5 troops!

Clash of Clans: Building an Alt. Day 4

More work on our alternate CoC Account, almost ready for Town Hall Level 4!

Our initial shield dropped yesterday and we've done some healthy raiding. I've been able to fill both storages several times now, upgrade all the walls and several other things.

We rebuilt the clan castle, built the Laboratory, upgraded both Army Camps (and working on the last barracks upgrade) all the walls are level 2 now (and some level 3) and I've cleared most of the obstructions. I'm at 399 gems (I need 500 to get the 3rd builder). Raiding at this low level has been quite lucrative and I've upgraded just about everything so I'm moving up to Town Hall level 4 (and researching my first Laboratory upgrade). My clan has a 600 trophy minimum so I may join the clan soon with it so I can pass it troops for raiding from my main account, not sure.

I'm hoping that by this Friday (1 week) I can unlock everything in Town Hall Level 4 and continue to upgrade stuff to almost be ready to go up to Town Hall Level 5.

Clash of Clans: Building an Alt. Day 3

Continuing to work on our alternate account, we've made some good progress!

Day three of the Alternate Clash of Clans account build. We made some significant advances over night, I think our initial shield drops today so hopefully we can take advantage and get some early raiding in (not sure how lucrative it will be at this level).

We're still at TH level 3 and I suspect we will be until holding off on upgrading until at least the morning (which would take 24 hours, so it would happen the next morning). As you can see the base got a redesign, 50 walls (some of them upgraded already) and two bombs. We have 3 of our resource collectors maxed (and the other two 1 level from max) and upgraded one of the barracks to Wall Breaker level last night. We can hold 60 troops now and with the resources from last night I started to build the Laboratory so hopefully soon we can start upgrading troops.

My hope for today is to do some more upgrades (probably storages because they are the cheapest left to do) and set two of the last resource collectors to upgrade overnight. I am anxious to see how we do once the shield drops, I don't see how I could be any better prepared that we are after only 3 days. I will likely not post again until the TH is ready to be upgraded but we're looking pretty good I think. My goal is that by next weekend I can start working towards the 600 trophy mark (the minimum to have this account join my clan) so I can then start passing it upgraded troops to raid with - I'd need to rebuild the clan castle first though!

Clash of Clans: Building an Alt. Day 2

Continuing to build a 'mini' account to hopefully join my Clash of Clans clan.

Day two of the Alternate Clash of Clans account build. I am starting to see the game slow down a bit more towards what CoC becomes (long term time management with periods of multi-hour raiding sessions)

Besides the TH Lvl 3, new storages, elixer collector and gold mine, army camp and mortar, we have also upgraded barracks, mines, collectors, storages, cannons and one of the camps. We still have quite a few upgrades before we will be thinking about doing the Town Hall (and we need to build the Lab, 2 Bombs and 50 walls)  but we are getting there!

I'm finding myself maxing out my storages at times, I've kept from having both maxed out storages and collectors/mines (which would mean wasted resources) but I've had to resort to clearing obstacles at a few points to use up some resources (especially elixer, I think I have my gold down low enough now). I could win another single player campaign easily right now but am holding off to wait for the ability to spend some elixer. I wouldn't have these issues if I had another builder but as I don't want to spend any money I'm having to wait for the Gems to slowly build up to 500 (300 now ain't too shabby for this early in the game).

Clash of Clans: Building an Alt. The Beginning

If you've been living under a rock, Clash of Clans is an extremely popular iOS/Android game that is about 2 years old.

I got into the Clash of Clans game pretty late, I've only been playing for a few months (and its about 2 years old now). I noticed the game fairly early after it first came out but wasn't really keen on the concept, the reason I started playing recently was two fold - 1) They have polished things up quite a bit and added a lot more content. and 2) I was looking for a mobile game to keep me occupied during down time at work, etc. and my friends at work wanted me to play as they wanted to start a clan.

My current main base, I could have gone up to Town Hall Lvl 8 a while ago but I'm raiding really well at the moment and just concentrating on maxing everything out.

So I joined the clan with the guys at work and have been playing for a little while. I haven't spent any money besides an iTunes giftcard that I got at a gift ($20) which let me get the 4th builder and the Barbarian King. I am hoping to have just about everything maxed out by mid-September then I will move up to Town Hall Level 8.

In the meantime as we've had some trouble growing our clan, myself and one friend from work have both decided to begin Alts (or Alternate Accounts). I started mine on a Friday after work and this is a screenshot from the next morning:

Still quite modest, but I've actually already done quite a few upgrades.

I went through the tutorials which included moving up to Town Hall level 2. I then worked on building everything that was available (besides decorations which I don't build and walls which I will wait until my initial shield drops). Once everything was built I started upgrading things. First the Gold Mines and Elixer Collectors which are now all 4 at level 3, then the Gold and Elixer storages, then Barracks, then finally Cannons and the Archer tower - all of those are now on level 2. I waited until the next morning to start the Army Camp and Town Hall upgrades. I also fought a few extra fights in the single player campaign to get a few more bundles of resources.

My hope is to max out the Level 3 Town Hall and be well on the way to maxing out the Level 4 Town Hall by the time the shield drops (which should be Monday afternoon, and I'm off work due to a Holiday that day!). I plan to do two things with this Alt. 1) Never spend any money on it, if I get any iTunes gift cards for Christmas, etc. I will spend them on my main account not this one. 2) Never spend any gems in game, I want to save for the 3rd builder (and then for the 4th) so every gem counts and they come slowly without spending real money. I will check back in towards the end of this long weekend and show how far I'm getting.
