Pokemon Crystal: Playthrough Part 6

Two more badges and we take down one of Team Rocket's schemes!

Last Time we explored and caught all the Unown (among other things), now it's time to take on the next gym and advance the story!

Jasmine went down quickly to my awesome Quilava.

The experience from the battle got him to level 36 and he evolved to Typhlosion!

I left Jasmine in Olivine and flew right to the lake of Rage, time to take on the Red Gyrados!

A quick battle, paralyze and a few Ultra Balls and we now have a Red Gyrados!

Back in Mahogany town Lance (whom I met at the Lake of Rage) and I try to track down what's causing the Magikarp to evolve in the lake of rage - turns out it's Team Rocket!

Lance and I team up on several Rocket Executives but they go down pretty easily.

We cut the power to the Rocket's broadcast machine and Lance gives me the Whirlpool HM, I'll need the Mahogany Gym Badge to use it.

The Gym in Mahogany uses Ice Pokemon, but most are also water (or funnily enough weak to water) so Lanturn mopped up!

Professor Elm called and let me know that there is weird stuff going on the radio, something about Team Rocket. I think we're supposed to head back to Goldenrod but I want to see if I can get to the next town first.

On the way to the cave to the next town my HootHoot evolved into a Noctowl!

The cave to the next town is known as Ice Path, several Ice Pokemon are available to catch and beat for experience.

There are a bunch of items to collect in the Ice Path, including the last HM (Waterfall) but I think I need another Gym Badge to use it.

We made it to Blackthorn City, I made sure to visit the Pokemon Center first thing so I could Fly back any time I want.

Went to the Gym but it seems Clair is out, looks like I'm going to have to advance the Team Rock plot before really moving forward.

Lanturn & Typhlosion are still leaps beyond the others but Noctowl is catching up, still thinking about dumping Skiploom.

I'm about 30 hours in now (the emulator I'm using adds a lot of time). I'm taking the time to catch as many Pokemon as possible and raise my Pokemon up.
