Taking down Team Rocket and grabbing the last Badge!
Last Time we took the Pokémon League challenge, took down the Elite Four and Pokémon Champion and became the Pokémon Champion ourselves. Now we are off to explore the Kanto region!
Professor Elm called and let me know that he had something for me, a ticket for the S.S. Aqua to go to Kanto! |
The S.S.Aqua looks quite a bit more modern than the S.S.Anne from Red/Blue/Yellow. |
Immediately upon boarding a man lets me know that his granddaughter is missing and he is worried and looking for her. |
We battled all the trainers onboard the ship and eventually found the little girl before arriving in Kanto near Vermilion City. |
The route East was blocked, so we will just have to head to Vermilion itself. |
Took a stroll through town, stopped by the Gym and took down Lt. Surge, grabbed my first Kanto Badge! |
Heading north I heard reports of some sort of trouble at the Power Plant, the underground was blocked because of it and apparently the Magnet Train in Saffron isn't running because of it as well. |
I Saffron I took on Sabrina, she had a very nice Espeon along with a few other Psychic Pokémon, but she went down eventually. |
Further north in Cerulean I immediately went to the gym, but Misty was missing! |
I decided to head towards Bill's house on the cape, the Nugget Bridge trainers weren't on the bridge but I found them eventually further up, they went down quickly. |
Nothing was going on at Bill's house and they redesigned the landscape a little bit so I can't go back to Pewter City this way (and Mewtwo's cave is gone) so I guess I'll head towards the Power Plant! |
The Power Plant is out near Rock Tunnel so I head that way, take down a few trainers and try to catch some new Pokémon, most of them I've seen before though. Caught a Meowth at least. |
The Power Plant seems to be in use, it was abandoned in Red/Blue/Yellow. |
Apparently someone stole a part for the Power Plant's generator, the police officer said there was a shady individual back in Cerulean so I headed back to search. |
I looked around for a while and eventually ran into what looks like a Team Rocket member running out of the Gym. |
I ran into him again on the bridge, he had fairly week Pokémon when we fought and was highly disappointed when he found out I had already taken down the resurrected Team Rocket back in Johto. |
He let me know he had hidden the Machine Part back at the Gym, I looked around for a while and found it. |
I headed back out to the cape and found Misty, may have interrupted a date she was having! |
She headed back to the Gym and I followed, she had her usual Water Pokémon and went down pretty quickly and I got my 3rd Kanto Badge! |
I'm trying to train up Weepinbell to the mid-40s before using a Sun Stone to evolve him to a Bellosum, Togepi could really use some levels right now but Noctowl is catching up okay. |
I'm about 40 hours in (my emulator adds quite a bit of time), once I fix the Power Plant issue more of the Kanto region should open up and I'll try for the rest of the Kanto Badges and more Pokémon! |
-----------------------
I went back to play this and found that I had already done so (presumably without taking screenshots to finish this playthrough log) I am at the final cavern in Mt. Silver about to fight Red (the protaganist from the first generation of games) and while I have all 16 badges my Pokemon are whoefully inadequate to take on Red (his first Pokemon is a level 81 Pikachu, my best is 61 - he was actually quite hard).
Even with 100 hours in (less due to the emulator) and all 16 badges, I still have plently of Pokemon to catch and train and still can't hope to beat Red with my paltry force - gotta love the massive end of game content in Pokemon games. |
I am putting this playthrough to bed, I'm excited about the remakes of Ruby and Sapphire coming out this November so I think I'll replay one of the originals from that gen next!
