Pokemon Crystal: Playthrough Part 8

Taking down Team Rocket and grabbing the last Badge!

Last Time we stopped Team Rocket from taking over Goldenrod City and grabbed the 8th Badge! Now it's time to head off to the Pokémon League!

Before heading off to the Pokémon League I decided to circle back to Cianwood City.
I used Whirpool to gain access to the Whirlpool Island, but the Legendary Pokémon weren't there. I caught a few other types though.
I also took a trip back to Mt. Mortar where I can now use Waterfall to explore the rest of the caverns.
The Karate King gave me a Tyrogue for beating him, I can raise it up to be a Hitmonlee or Hitmonchan and breed for another I believe.
Time to take our first steps into the Kanto region on the way to the Pokémon League!
Fought through some trainers to get to the gate to Victory Road - my 8 Johto Badges let me in!
Victory Road is much the same as from Red/Blue/Yellow but unfortunately there's no Moltres to catch.
Got some training in for my Bellsprout and it evolved into a Weepinbell!
Gold wanted to fight right before leaving Victory Road, he has been training up his Pokémon some but I took him down pretty quickly.
My party just before taking on the Elite Four, the Rhydon I caught on Victory Road. Some of my Pokémon are still pretty low level but I'm hoping Typhlosion and Lanturn can be my anchors!
Elite Four Will went down without too much trouble, he used several Birds and other Pokémon that were mostly Psychic types, Lanturn took down most of them.
Elite Four Koga used several bug types and other Pokémon that were mostly Poison types, Typhlosion took down most of them.
Elite Four Bruno has two Onix and 3 fighting Pokémon, Lanturn took down the two Onix but Noctowl wasn't quite strong enough to take down Bruno's last Machamp, so Typhlosion had to mop up.
Elite Four Karen used a mixture of ghost and dark types, this battle was a little tough but her last Houndoom went down quickly at least.
Champion Lance was the real challenge, I don't have any Ice Attacks and had to heal Lanturn no less than 3 times, but I pulled it out in the end!
My party grew quite a bit from the fighting with the Elite Four, I'll have to keep training Togepi and Weepinbell!
I'm the Pokémon Champion! Still a bunch more to do in the game but this is quite an accomplishment! I'm really only about 40 hours in (my emulator adds quite a bit of time).

----------

I did it! I'm the Pokémon League Champion! Game over right? Wrong! There is still all of the Kanto region to explore and I haven't encountered Lugia or Ho-oh yet! Stay tuned, I will try to get some more play in this week and post some more!
