Pokemon Crystal: Playthrough Part 3

Our third badge and several more towns worth of exploration...

Last Time we grabbed the second badge and made our way to Goldenrod city, today we'll take on the
Goldenrod gym and continue our journey to explore the Johto region!

Whitney, the Goldenrod Gym leader, didn't take loosing well.

Soon after, our Hoppip evolved into a Skiploom, she's not the best fighter but she can Paralyze or put to Sleep Pokémon which makes her indispensable for catching Pokémon.

I grabbed the squirt bottle from the florist after beating Whitney and used it on the 'strange tree' which turned out to be a Sudowoodo which I caught.

Catching Sudowoodo opened up the passage back to Violet City so I went back to the Dark Cave (after getting Rock Smash from the lady near Sudowoodo who was grateful for it being cleared). Exploring the cave and breaking Rocks let me encounter a few new Pokémon and of course I caught a few Krabby and a Shuckle.

The Dark Cave led back to Route 46 which in turn took me back to my home town, so I took the opportunity to show Togepi to Professor Elm, he gave me an Everstone in return (not sure if/when I'll use it though).

Short trek back through Cherrygrove and Violet back to where Sudowoodo was, I went north to Ecruteak City.

Apparently the Gym Leader isn't in right now so they booted me out!

So I went to the east to Mt. Mortar, a quick romp through the caves and some training off the wild Pokémon and trainers got me to Mahogany Town.

I made my way up north to the Lake of Rage, but since I can't Surf yet I couldn't get to the Red Gyrados.

I did explore around, got $1000 extorted from me from some Team Rocket looking guys, caught a few new Pokémon and faced a few trainers. Also found Wednesday Wesley and he gave me a Blackbelt, also picked up a few TMs and other items laying about before heading back to Ecruteak.

Back in Ecruteak I went to the burned tower and met a man on the trail of the legendary Pokémon Suicune.

After some poking around I ran into Gold, but he went down pretty easily. Unfortunately just after our battle I too went down - down a hole in the floor!

In the cavern below the burned tower that I fell into, I encountered three legendary Pokémon including Suicune (along with Entei and Raiku).

After leaving the burned tower, I headed west to face some more trainers and catch some wild Pokémon. I took the time to give some berries to the sick Miltank on the farm and then I got a call from a trainer back near Goldenrod that there was a bunch of Yanma on the loose. I high tailed it back to catch me one of the rare bug Pokémon.

I made my way to Olivine City, a town on the coast full of sailors and fishermen. I got HM 04 (Strength) from one of the sailors at a bar, but I'm not sure I can use it yet.

One of the Fishermen in a house in Olivine wanted to trade for a Krabby, I had an extra so I agreed and got a Voltorb in return.

I did a little exploring and found the ship dock, they won't let me get on the ship yet but I did some fishing and was able to catch a Chinchou, I think I'll train him up to be part of my main party - I need a water Pokémon and the added electricity is always nice.

Jasmine, the Olvine City Gym Leader, is said to be taking care of a sick Pokémon at the top of the Lighthouse - so that's where we're going next... next time!

My Pokémon are starting to come together, I still keep Bellspout with me for the HMs but hopefully my next Pokémon can learn Cut.

I'm really only about 12 hours into the game (the emulator I'm using adds a lot of time) I'm taking my time to catch a bunch of Pokémon and raise my Pokémon right.
