The Last Two badges and two Mystic Birds as we gear up for the Pokémon League! |
We left off last time just after taking down Team Rocket and Psychic Gym Leader Sabrina in Saffron City, standing on the coast of Fuschia City ready to surf south towards Cinnibar Island. About half way to Cinnnibar Island, after taking down a handful of trainers, we come upon Seafoam Island. The cave on Seafoam Island has a whole bunch of water pokemon and my Venusaur and Pikachu gain a bunch of experience. I taught Blastoise strength so he could move the boulders around so we could eventually navigate through the caverns to get out the other side.

Just before leaving Seafoam Island's cave we get to fight Articuno, he's at Lvl 50 but I Paralyzed him and got him with an Ultra Ball. |
After Seafoam Island we took down the other trainers in the ocean before arriving at Cinnabar Island. A quick heal at the Pokemon Center and depositing the extra items I picked up on Seafoam Island, I withdrew the Helix Fossil and Old Amber. I took the Helix Fossil and Old Amber to the Lab and got the scientist to revive Omanyte and Aerodactyle from them, I also caught a Krabby, Kingler, Seel, and Dewgong back at Seafoam to keep adding to my collection.
Next I headed to the Gym, but it was locked! So instead I went to the abandoned Laboratory and fought through the Burglars and Scientists to get all the items there (including the Secret Key for the Gym). I never found a Growlithe but I was able to pickup a Grimer and Muk. With the Secret Key in hand I headed back to the Gym, Blastoise got buckets of experience taking down all the fire Pokemon.

Blaine's pokemon weren't low level, but being all 100% Fire Type made them pretty easy to beat. |
I surfed north from Cinnibar Island and took down the swimmers and fisherment along the way back to Pallet Town. I checked back in with Mom and Professor Oak then headed north back to Viridian City. Back when we first came through the Gym was boarded up, but now it has bunches of people in it. Pidgeot got some good experience off the fighting Pokemon some of the trainers had, while Blastoise and Venusaur took out the majority of the gym's ground Pokemon.

Got all 8 Badges and Giovanni seems to see the error of his ways! |
I suspected there might be another fight with Gary coming up and I was not dissapointed. He had a Sandslash, Exeggecute, Magneton, Ninetales, Kadabra, and his Vaporeon. His Pokemon are of course pretty versified and strong but I have plenty to counter him so the matched wasn't that taxing. He did take down Pikachu though with a critical hit!
|
Only Gary can gloat after such a crushing defeat. |
Before heading off to Victory road I decided to swing back and grab Zapdos. I flew to Cerulean City and went towards Rock Tunnel, however just before it I surfed to the right and down to the Power Planet. I picked up all the extra items and got some good experience for my Charizard (who knows Earthquake) fighting all the electric Pokemon. I didn't find an Electabuzz but I did catch a Magneton, Voltorb and Electrode before facing and capturing Zapdos.
|
Only one more Legendary Bird to go! |
That's all for now, I'm hoping to play again more this weekend. We just have Victory Road and then its on to the Elite Four and the Champion (and then I'll probably go catch Mewtwo.) Stay tuned for the conclusion!

My Pokemon Party's Levels have actually not gone up as fast as the enemy's but since my team is varied and strong that seems to make up for it so far. The Elite 4 have pokemon upwards of Lvl 60 if I remember correctly though so I may need to do some training. |
