Two more badges obtained and more of the Pokemon world opens up to us!
Last Time we grabbed the third badge and started exploring more of Johto, ended up in Olivine City about to explore the lighthouse.
Climbing the lighthouse involves battling quite a few trainers but it gave us some nice experience. |
My mom keeps buying stuff with the money I'm saving, they're usually Super Potions which are useful so I don't mind. |
At the top of the Lighthouse I find Jasmine who is taking care of a sick Pokemon, she requests that I go to Cinnibar Island to get some special medicine. |
To get out to the Island I'm going to have to be able to Surf, so I head back to Ecruteak and take on the Dance studio trainers. |
After beating all the Dancers (who each use 1 of the 6 evolutions of Eevee in this Generation) I am rewarded with HM 03 (Surf) but I'll need Ecruteak's Gym badge to use it! |
Quilava and Chinchou take down Monty pretty easily and I get the Ecruteak badge. |
Tin Tower is supposed to be accessible once we get the badge from the Ecruteak City gym, but the old man still doesn't want us to enter - so it's off to the sea! |
Chinchou gets a bunch of good experience fighting trainers and wild Pokemon on the ocean, and evolves into Lanturn! |
On the way to the next town, I find some smaller islands but they are blocked by Whirpools, I'll have to come back once I have the HM to get past them. |
We finally get to the island only to briefly spot Suicune, the man who is trailing Suicune (and seems to show up after every time we see him) comes up with the idea of fighting us to prove himself to the legendary Pokemon. |
He actually had some decent Pokemon, but they went down pretty quickly to my Quilava and Lanturn. |
Next I talked to the people in the houses in town and eventually found the SECRETPOTION for the sick Pokemon at the lighthouse. |
Before we head back to Olivine I figure I should take on the gym, they use fighting Pokemon and I don't have any birds but since my party is fairly strong for this point in the game it isn't very hard. Funnily enough my Skiploom finished off Chuck's final Poliwrath while asleep thanks to Leech Seed. |
Chuck's wife gave my HM 02 (Fly) for beating him so now I can fly around Johto, unfortunately I don't have any birds in my main group - I'll have to pick one and train it up next time! |
My Pokemon Party after beating Chuck, I still keep Bellsprout around for cut and was thinking about breaking down and just training it up to replace Skiploom who still is yet to learn a good grass attack. Togepi is also falling behind but now knows Shadow Ball (used the TM I got at the Ecruteak gym) and should be evolving fairly soon so hopefully he gets better. |
I'm about 16 hours in now (the emulator I'm using adds a bunch of time) and not doing to badly I don't think. I caught a bunch of Pokemon on the ocean (Tentacool, Tentacruel, Manitee, etc.) which helped my number there. |
----------
I hope to grab the Olivine City badge next then head off towards the Lake of Rage, I can now take on the Red Gyrados! Stay tuned for the next chapter, I hope to have it up tomorrow!
